Lawn Fertilization and Weed Control

At Custom Lawn Care, we offer flexible lawn care programs to help customize a plan to ensure a healthy lawn with few weeds. We offer programs ranging from 3 applications and maxing out at 7 applications, along with additional services offered throughout the year.

Each application focuses on what Michigan residents encounter on their property throughout the year based on our climate. We are able to customize a program and adjust those applications during the season to ensure effective results are achieved. One thing to keep in mind, in order to maintain your lawn and keep weeds at a tolerable level frequent applications are highly recommended as it provides a consistent source of fertilizer and weed control.

With our extensive client base, our state certified technicians apply almost 100,000 effective treatments each year. Our technicians are consistently evaluating your lawn with each visit. Round 1: Early Spring- Crabgrass Control

This treatment is a slow release granular fertilizer that will disperse key ingredients slowly into your turf and help control crabgrass from spreading over your lawn. It should promote a healthy green color while it provides needed nutrients for root growth and to return lawn from dormancy. It will jumpstart your growth season.

 

Round 2: Late Spring- Spring Weed and Feed

This treatment is a slow release granular fertilizer that will disperse key ingredients slowly into your turf and a blanket application of liquid weed control, specifically for broadleaf weeds. It will promote a healthier, greener color while it feeds your lawn important nutrients. 

 

Round 3: Early Summer- Fertilization with Spot Treatment of Weeds

This treatment is a slow release granular fertilizer that will disperse key ingredients slowly into your turf with a spot treatment of any remaining weeds with liquid weed control as needed. At this time our technicians will start to monitor lawn for any developing problems such as grubs.

 

Round 4: Mid-Summer- Fertilization with Spot Treatment of Weeds

This treatment is a slow release granular fertilizer that will disperse key ingredients slowly into your turf with a spot treatment of any remaining weeds with liquid weed control as needed. Now, is the time our technicians will be inspecting your lawn for any indication of turf feeding insect issues. We are also approaching the time when we will start to apply our Grub-Pro grub control.

Round 5: Late Summer- Fall Weed and Feed

This treatment is a slow release granular fertilizer that will disperse key ingredients slowly into your turf and a blanket application of liquid weed control, specifically for broadleaf weeds. At this time our technicians will be inspecting your lawn for any unusual problems which may increase due to higher temperatures of the season.

 

Round 6: Late Fall- Fertilizer with Spot Treatment of Weed Control

This treatment is a slow release granular fertilizer that will disperse key ingredients slowly into your turf with a spot treatment of any remaining weeds with liquid weed control as needed. The technician will also be inspecting your lawn for any distressed areas and overall appearance of your lawn and suggest any additional treatments and services or potentially changing your program to increase results next season.

 

Round 7: Pre-Winter- Fertilizer

This treatment is a blended granular nutrient application that is high in potassium to encourage a healthy root system and preparing your lawn for a harsh winter. This treatment allows the nutrients to be consumed at the proper time, prior to any snowfall. To allow absorption and helps your turf and its root system to remain stable during the winter months.
